Books, journals and databases

Books

The Bodleian Health Care Libraries house a collection of around 25,000 books. Books are available to borrow during staffed hours.

Online journals, books and databases

NHS OpenAthens (previously called Athens) is the single username and password for nearly all the library resources purchased for NHS staff.

Our NHS e-resources guide can help you access and navigate the e-resources available to NHS staff.

Find out how to get access to thousands of e-resources through your OpenAthens account, such as the Royal Marsden Handbook, Oxford Medicine Online, full-text journals from the RCN, and hundreds of e-books. It includes guidance on how to search the databases to find a specific article, or articles on a topic. Bookmark this guide and add it to your favourites.

Library catalogue

You can search for print books and journals as well as accessing electronic books and articles by using SOLO, the catalogue for Oxford’s libraries. Find out more about using SOLO.

Can't find what you're looking for?

If the book or journal article you need is not available in the Bodleian Health Care Libraries, we may be able to obtain it for you from another library for a small fee. Learn more about our document supply service.

You can also recommend resources for purchase by the libraries.
