Group study and training spaces

The Cairns Library, Knowledge Centre and Girdlestone Memorial Library have group study and training rooms available for use. The rooms are for library members who need to work together on projects or for small teaching groups.

Cairns Library, Level 3 Academic Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital

The following spaces are available to book within the Cairns Library for conference calls or group meetings.

We welcome bookings from OUH NHS Foundation Trust employees or those on placement within the OUH NHS Foundation Trust, and University of Oxford card holders.

Cairns Library Group Study Room

This room can be booked 24/7 with a valid University of Oxford or Bodleian Health Care Libraries card.

Note: Due to this room being at the back of the library, a valid University of Oxford or Bodleian Health Care Libraries card is required to access this room 24/7.

This room can be booked for up to 4 people.

The room provides:

  • a large screen TV that can be connected to a laptop via HDMI (not available for use outside of staffed hours)
  • a Bodleian Libraries Reader PC (a valid library account is required to access this)

Cairns Group Study POD

The POD is in the Cairns Library foyer area. It can be booked 24/7 with a valid University of Oxford or Bodleian Health Care Libraries card.

This room can fit up to 6 people.

Note: there are no windows in the room and it is not well sound-proofed, so it is not really suitable for confidential meetings.

The POD provides:

  • a large screen TV that can be connected to a laptop via HDMI (not available for use outside of staffed hours)
  • a whiteboard

Beeson Training/Meeting Room

The Beeson Room can be booked for groups of 6 or over. Maximum capacity depends on layout, but is around 15 people. A large screen TV is available in the room; you can link your laptop via HDMI to the screen. A camera and microphone are available for hybrid meetings. A mobile whiteboard is available.

Due to limited space in the library, hospital study which doesn’t involve conference calls or group chat should be undertaken in the main library where possible, so the above spaces can be kept for readers who needs spaces for conversation.

Knowledge Centre

Group study room

There is a group study room inside the Knowledge Centre. The room provides:

  • seating for up to 12 people
  • moveable furniture allowing for a flexible layout
  • a flip chart (pens are available on request at the library desk)
  • audiovisual equipment with a wall-mounted screen
  • a data projector and projector screen
  • 1 laptop with access to networked data points.

Girdlestone Memorial Centre (NOC) Library

Group study room

The NOC Library has a group study room available for library users to book. It has a capacity of 4 people and can be used for group or individual work.
